Recognition for Two Rangi Ruru Musicians

Congratulations to violinist Grace McKenzie (Year 11) who has once again been accepted to the New Zealand String Quartet Summer School, held in Nelson during February 2016.

This prestigious summer school provides the opportunity for up to 30 of New Zealand’s best young string players and pianists to commit themselves to eight days of intense chamber music-making under the guidance of the New Zealand String Quartet and pianist Diedre Irons.

Congratulations also to flautist Isabella Gregory (Year 11) who has been announced as Principal Flautist in the New Zealand Youth Symphonic Wind Band.

Open to young musicians under the age of 25 years, this is a wonderful achievement for Isabella, alongside her recent appointment as Principal Flautist in the New Zealand Secondary Schools’ Symphony Orchestra.

Isabella will travel to Auckland during January 2016 for intensive rehearsals and concert presentations.
