Beginning of the Year

This page provides helpful information for 2020. The School Office is closed from 20 December 2019 and will re-open again on 13 January 2020.

Parent Portal – An email will be sent out to all new families for 2020 in January. This will provide you with log on details to access the Parent Portal. For those families who may have lost or forgotten their log ons, please contact office@rangiruru.school.nz to have these reset.

Personal Details – At the start of the new term you will be emailed a link where you can update your details if there have been any changes. It is important that we have the most up to date contact details for you in case of emergencies. To notify us of any changes during the year, please contact office@rangiruru.school.nz.

Uniform

The Shop is located at 41 Hewitts Road, Merivale. For The Shop hours or more information about the uniform, visit Uniform.

Stationery

You can purchase stationery online at Office Max. It is best to place orders before 13 January to ensure delivery before school starts. Some items will be supplied by subject teachers and charged to the Goldsheet. Term one you will see two charges – Publications – $50, which covers Student Handbook/diary, School Year Book and Digital Licences – $30, which covers software licences for students.

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)

Rangi Ruru Girls’ School operates a compulsory ‘Bring Your Own Device’ (BYOD) policy. This means that every student will be expected to bring a digital device and charger, that is capable of connecting to a wireless network and browsing the internet. Visit BYOD to learn more and find out what support options are available through our IT Services team.

Getting Connected

To allow students to get off to a seamless start when they start at Rangi Ruru, we will be emailing all new students in late-January with their school username and password, along with links and instructions to download and install Microsoft Office and Teams.

We will also provide information about useful apps that students can install on their phone, should they wish.

It is important that all students do this prior to the school year starting. Should anyone have any issues with this process, there will be information on how to contact and come into the IT Helpdesk for assistance

Camps

Dates for camps for 2020 are:

  • Year 7 – Wainui Park Camp, 12-14 February. Year 7 Camp letter and gear list can be downloaded here.
  • Year 8 – Orton Bradley Park, 12-14 Febraury. Year 8 Camp Letter and gear list can be downloaded here.
  • Year 9 – Glenroy Lodge Camp, 11-12 and 13-14 February. Year 9 Camp Letter and gear list can be downloaded here.
  • Year 10 – TBC, Term 2, weeks 4-6
  • Year 12 -TBC, 20-22 September

An email with the Consent and Risk Acknowledgement and Health Profile will be emailed to the Year 7, 8 and 9 families early next year for completition and submission, prior to the girls going on camp. If you have any questions regarding upcoming camps, please contact the Year Level Dean in the first instance.

EOTC Form
Please print out the following EOTC Form and return to school on your first day. This form is to cover events which may occur during the course of a school day or which could extend to out of school hours. For example athletic sports or music events. Where an event involves risk exposure greater than would typically be the case at school, such as camps, specific consent will be required and the appropriate form will be sent home.

Accounts and Terms of Trade

Fees and disbursements are invoiced monthly. Our terms of trade require direct debit as the mandatory method of payment and you should have received a direct debit form from us. If not, please contact the Business Office on accounts@rangiruru.school.nz. Only one direct debit authority is required per family. Itinerant Music/Speech and Drama Lessons 2020

Lessons in a wide range of instruments, voice and speech and drama are available to all girls who attend Rangi Ruru. These lessons (ITM lessons) are held during the school day and are charged to the parent/caregiver account (Gold Sheet) once per term. Lessons are mostly individual, although there are small group lessons available in speech and drama. Further information can be found by going to the 2020 ITM Information page on RangiLife.

If your daughter wishes to take Music, or Speech and Drama lessons in 2020 you can register for lessons here.

Tutors will be in touch with girls/parents at the end of January/early February to arrange lesons times. Most lessons will start from Monday 3 February.

Physio – Balance Physiotherapy

In conjunction with Balance Physiotherapy, Rangi Ruru provides a physiotherapy service on Mondays and Thursdays in the Fitness Centre. For further information click here.

InTouch – Our In Touch newsletter will be sent by emailevery Friday during Term Time. The first In Touch for 2020 will be emailed on Friday 24 January.

Rangi Ruru has a number of handbooks that are helpful to families and students. These can all be found here.

Family Handbook – Students new to Rangi Ruru will be given a copy to take home to parents at the beginning of Term 1.

Boarders Handbook – The Director of Boarding has or will give new families a copy of the Boarders Handbook.

Co-Curricular Handbook – Students new to Rangi Ruru will be given a copy at the beginning of Term 1.
