The Amazing Things Our Girls Do!

This week we celebrate four Rangi Ruru girls who have excelled in their cocurricular activities.

Jess Tansey

Congratulations to Jess Tansey (Year 12) who has won two National titles at the National Dog Show. She placed 1st in the open competition Advanced A Rally with ‘Arry’ AND 1st in the Young Kennel Club Advanced A competition. She also placed 2nd in this competition with ‘Clutha’. Both dogs are border collies (Clutha is on the left). What incredible results! Well done Jess!

Lucy Anderson

Congratulations to Lucy Anderson (Year 10) who won 2nd place in the 15-16 age group for individual trampoline at the Trampoline Nationals in Invercargill. She also took out 1st place with her partner in the 15-16 synchronised event. Well done Lucy, your hard work and perseverance over the past couple of years have really paid off!

Louise Vryenhoek

Congratulations to Louise Vryenhoek (Yr11) who was a member of the Canterbury U19 volleyball team as the libero (a defensive specialist position). The team competed at the Inter Provincial Championships in Auckland recently and came away undefeated with the U19 Women’s trophy! Well done Louise! Louise is #13.

Brooke Kingsbury

Congratulations to Brooke Kingsbury (Yr9) who has been collecting a mass of Highland dance titles in recent months:

  • ‘Honours’ obtained in both theory and practical dance with Irish 1.  
  • Intermediate Champion U14 of the Canterbury Caledonian Society
  • Runner up U14 in Marlborough and best deportment and wearing of the kilt over 12 years.
  • U14 Most Points of the day and was also named runner up U16 at the Piping and Dancing October competition held in Christchurch.
  • Two Canterbury West Coast championships – the Highland Reel U14 and the Sailors Hornpipe plus a second awarded in the South Island Irish Hornpipe U16 and the C/Ship Highland Fling U16.

An absolutely outstanding effort Brooke, well done!
